USC
OVERVIEW
Like many major educational institutions, the University of Southern California (USC) has Web needs on par with the largest organizations in the world. Each school and departmental site must support a wide array of users, including prospective students, current students, staff, faculty, alumni and more. Thanks to PINT's long-term experience with university site development, USC was able to reach a new level in online academic excellence.
Challenge
- Site management must reflect the ever-changing political and staffing challenges of a large university.
- An open and expandable platform was required to integrate with existing and future systems.
- Existing campus-wide branding must be respected, while encouraging the creativity of individual colleges and departments.
Solution
- The PINT Web Platform was flexibly licensed to support ongoing development and massive usage across the university.
- Workflow and content management were modified to mimic the organizational structure and its changes.
- Support and training to enable local developers, administrators, and contributors.
Results
- The School of Engineering and all related departments now self-manage dozens of Web sites via the PWP platform.
- The School of Cinema supports a large content-rich and Flash-heavy site to promote their well-known creativity and innovation.
- The School of Business migrated its massive content footprint to the PWP, with more to come.
